A dewatering tube is a large geotextile containment and filtration system used to separate water from sediment, sludge, sand, and other solids. Also known as a geotextile tube, geotube, or sludge dewatering tube, it is hydraulically filled with sediment-laden water or slurry so water can filter through the geotextile fabric while solids remain contained inside.

Enviro-USA™ dewatering tubes use high-strength woven polypropylene geotextile fabric or composite materials designed to contain large volumes of sediment while allowing water to filter through. The woven construction provides greater tensile strength for demanding, large-volume dewatering applications.

Sediment-laden water or slurry is pumped into the dewatering tube through filling ports positioned along its length. The geotextile fabric retains sediment and solids while allowing water to filter through the tube. As water drains away, the retained material consolidates, reducing its volume and weight.

Dewatering bags have a smaller footprint and typically use nonwoven geotextile, making them suitable for smaller dewatering applications. Dewatering tubes use high-strength woven geotextile or composite materials and have significantly larger dimensions for projects involving sediment volumes measured in cubic feet and other large-volume applications.
